A wintry trip to Chatsworth today. The house and gardens are closed until the middle of March but the stables and restaurant are open and so is the car park next to them.<\/p>\n

After driving through a blizzard from Owler Bar down to Baslow, we had a trudge to Edensor (pronounced Ensor) which is a little village on the estate and houses workers from the estate. More history here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Once arriving at Edensor we located the quaint tea room which doubles up as shop and Post Office for a large coffee and then into the church for a little look around. In the graveyard are the graves of Joseph Paxton (the chap who created the wonderful garden on the estate as well as many others) and members of the Cavendish family. The 11th Duke was buried here in 2004, and his stone, like all the others, is very plain.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
