Saturday
Didn’t do an awful lot! Travelled down the coast for a farmers Market which apart from an amazing bun stall was a but rubbish. Still had a nice coffee and walk along the prom. After lunch, went to an orchid foundation which was stunning. In the evening we’d booked tickets for the Jersey Symphony Orchestra…

Durrell Conservation
All day Friday at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (www.durrell.org). It is a bit like Jersey Zoo but as the name suggests their key aim is to conserve and protect endangered species. The conditions the animals in were superb and they had loads of room to be in. Of course the highlight was realising they…

Thursday
Had a wander along the coast to Mont Orguil Castle. Cloudless, sunny day again so great views over the sea to France and along the Jersey coast. This was another we’d downloaded an audio tour which was again excellent, and amusing! This afternoon we visited the Occupation tunnels, dug out during the occupation to hold…

Wednesday in St Helier
Visited Elizabeth Castle on St Helier harbour this morning. Tide up all day so had to use the amphibious ferry to cross which drives into the sea, then sails across, before driving up onto the beach by the castle. Very interesting visit, we had downloaded an audio tour to put onto our iPhones. The castle…

Tuesday
Went to a nice manor house and gardens this morning (Samares Manor – www.samaresmanor.com). Gardens not quite in bloom yet but very pleasant. Guided tour of house was interesting as it contains a lot of the history of the link Jersey has with the crown and France. In the afternoon, we went to La Mare…

Easter Monday
Cracking walk today. Weather stunning, blue sky and sunshine from early morning. Took a trip along the coast, inland to Grouville church, then along to the reservoir above Gorey, then down to Gorey harbour for another ice cream before walking back along the beach back to the cottage for a well earned cuppa! — Post…

Easter Sunday
Lovely day on the east coast of Jersey, which compared to yesterday’s downpours was most welcome. A chilly breeze from the sea but still nice to be out. Intended to go to St Helier’s church this morning but the 10.30 service actually started at 10.00 so we were late. Never mind, may try Grouville church…

Garden
Been having some work done. A nice new alpine/rockery area in the back with lots of heathers, dwarf conifers and rhododendrons. In the front, a major chop down and heathers and rhododendrons added. They can now be properly maintained as they gain maturity. Excellent!! — Post From My iPhone
