Lincoln

Busy day in Lincoln today. Had a nice breakfast in the hotel restaurant, then started off with the castle (most of pictures below) which is just around the corner from the hotel. The castle has extensive walls, the old Georgian prison and the crown court house which is still in use. The prison building contains one of the 4 surviving Magna Carta documents from 1215 as well as the more rare forest carta which went alongside it a few years later.

We then went to the mediaeval Bishop’s Palace (English Heritage) just next to the Cathedral and then into the Cathedral which was excellent. Planning to go for Evensong later on before going to Brown’s Pie Shop (www.brownspieshop.co.uk) for tea. Wonder if any of the staff are called Mrs Miggins!?
